Cookie Policy
Version 1.0.0 · Effective 2026-06-13. Previous versions are available on request from privacy@sidekick.mu.
A cookie is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies (local storage, pixels, fingerprinting) work the same way and are covered by this policy. This Cookie Policy explains which cookies Beyond Digital Ltd sets when you use https://sidekick.mu and the Sidekick web application, why we set them, and how you can control them.
1. Your choices
When you first visit the site we show a cookie banner with three options: Accept all, Reject all (we load only strictly-necessary cookies), and Preferences (category-by-category control). Rejection is as easy as acceptance — one click. You can change your choice at any time:
2. Categories we use
2.1 Strictly necessary (always on)
Required for the Service to function. These cannot be disabled and do not require consent under DPA s.28 / GDPR Art. 6(1)(f).
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
sidekick_session | Keeps you signed in | 14 days |
sidekick_consent | Records your cookie-banner choice so we don’t ask again | 12 months |
sidekick_anon_id | Anonymous identifier used in the consent audit log | 12 months |
2.2 Analytics (opt-in)
Help us understand how the Service is used so we can improve it. Loaded only after you tick “Analytics” or click “Accept all”.
Currently none active. When we add a provider (e.g. PostHog, Plausible, or Google Analytics 4) it will appear here with name, purpose, lifetime and provider location before being switched on. [LAWYER REVIEW: confirm before enabling any analytics in production.]
2.3 Marketing (opt-in)
Used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. Loaded only after you tick “Marketing” or click “Accept all”.
Currently none active.
3. Third-party cookies
We do not embed third-party social-media widgets, advertising pixels or chat widgets that set cookies before you give consent. If we ever do, we will update this policy and re-prompt for consent.
4. How to control cookies in your browser
Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies via their settings. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies will prevent the Service from working (you will not be able to sign in).
5. Changes
When this Cookie Policy materially changes (new category, new sub-processor) the banner will re-appear so you can give a fresh decision.
